A Free Body, A Free Mind

A Free Body, A Free Mind

I’ve had a strong sense for many years, that the tightness and pain in my body mirrored the ways in which I felt limited in my mindset. It’s a phenomenon that many people experience…likely without any awareness of it. And yet, I would guess that freedom is hugely important to most of us.

Viewed with a very literal eye, imagine the body position you would hold if your chest muscles were very tight and short. Your shoulders would be rounded and arms hanging forward without access to easy overhead reaching or turning your head around to view your environment. It’s the very essence of tunnel vision with the biomechanics of the entire upper body.

Now assume that body position and see how it feels. I would imagine you feel like you’ve lost the freedom to move and be emotionally authentic. The physical is simply the condensed energy of the emotion that you feel. There are certain common patterns in human bodies, but it can truly happen anywhere in your human form.

I’ve noticed this in myself as a result of a dropped gaze and the shortening it’s caused along the front of my body. As I do the work to release those tight anterior structures, I’m mindful of feeling the emotion that arises as I stretch or apply massage pressure to those areas. I do this to access the physical mechanics of bound connective tissue, but to also allow the cycling of its emotional energy through and out of the space it’s been stuck in.

I integrate the nervous system, by connecting to sensation and feelings, so the originating pattern is tapped into, revealed, and transmuted to a more functional way of being.

You can free your body…and change your mind if you’re willing to be present in the journey of releasing and letting go.

Each of us has an innate intelligence that can guide us to do this…and, it can be profound to have someone in your corner who knows the path and can help you through.

That’s what I love to do. If freedom is something you cherish, in your mind and body, I’d love to hear from you. Reach out to me here. Or book a free 30 minute call to help me set you on the right track.

Wishing you well 😊
